Plastic bottle packaging is an important part of the pharmaceutical packaging market. It has the advantages of light weight, high strength, not easy to damage, good sealing performance, moisture-proof and hygienic. Compared with glass containers, it can be directly used for medicine packaging without washing and drying. There are many specifications of plastic medicine bottles, ranging from tens of milliliters to thousands of milliliters, with different colors, shapes, and types. With the increase in the types of medicines and the stricter requirements for use, the plastic bottles of medicine packaging are moving towards functional and intelligent development.
Commonly used pharmaceutical packaging medical grade bottle include polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), etc., which are widely used in oral solid medicines such as tablets, capsules, granules, syrups, etc. Compared with the packaging of oral liquid medicines, the properties of plastic bottles for medicine packaging of different materials and structures are very different, and oxygen resistance is one of them. When using plastic bottles to package drugs, they should be selected reasonably according to the ingredients and storage requirements of the drugs.
For medicines containing ferrous salts, alcohols, ethers, aromatic amines, pyrazolones, thiophenazines and other easily oxidizable components, packaging materials should be required to have high oxygen resistance. If the oxygen resistance of the plastic bottle is low, that is, the oxygen transmission rate is high, these components are easily oxidized under the action of oxygen, and the medicine will change color and reduce the efficacy of the medicine. Therefore, the oxygen resistance of packaging plastic bottles is one of the key performance indicators that should be considered when choosing pharmaceutical packaging materials.
